Decades of work as one of the best-known editors in consumer electronics publishing have made him a noted authority on the subjects of audio, video, home automation, and other tech topics. He has written everything from magazine articles to print ads to sales presentations to training videos to TV spots, and has produced CDs, DVDs, TV shows, and PowerPoint presentations.
Brent has worked as an editor/writer for numerous consumer and trade websites and magazines, including Sound & Vision, About.com, Robb Report, The Wirecutter, Home Theater, Video Magazine, Windows Sources, Spin, Industrial Photography, and Law Enforcement Technology. Brent’s marketing credentials include a position as Director of Technology Marketing for Dolby Labs, work as an advertising writer for two Dallas ad agencies, and a journalism degree with advertising emphasis and a marketing minor. He has written manuals, press releases, business plans, PowerPoint presentations, web copy, brochures, video and audio scripts, and more. Brent has worked as a consultant for companies ranging from 3 to more than 300,000 employees, although he keeps his client list confidential. He has advised clients on product design, engineering, testing, business planning, marketing/advertising and public relations strategy. His technical experience includes more than a decade of measuring and evaluating audio and video products. He owns a full suite of audio test gear, and has conducted evaluations everywhere from his own home to client’s facilities halfway around the world.
